The rumor mill had been buzzing about the possibility of the Eddie Aikau Invitational running ever since the dark purple blob started spinning in the north Pacific on weather charts. An event that is only run when swell heights reach minimum standards for size on the buoys off the North Shore of Hawaii, the excitement tends to crescendo as the storm develops and creeps closer to coastlines. I vacillated back and forth between booking my flight to Honolulu to capture the event and staying put to shoot the swell in my backyard at the spots that I knew would light up. While I had a bit of FOMO from staying in the Pacific Northwest, there’s something special about witnessing such a big swell hit the reefs along a stretch of coast you’ve grown intimately familiar with over the years. This little spot did not disappoint during the Eddie swell with the massive volume of water and Pacific energy exploding it’s concentrated fury over a shallow, razor sharp, urchin infested reef.

Every photograph is printed on the finest archival paper with a matte finish to reduce light glare. Prints are loose mounted, backed with Kraft paper, and framed with a minimal natural wood frame with acrylic glass capturing the essence and mood of the beach. Each frame is installed with a hanging wire on the frame for ready-to-hang, simple display in your space. Be mindful to display in an area that does not receive direct sunlight to reduce the risk of fading over time. Once displayed, relax and enjoy a bit of the beach inside.
